A unit can come in sizes of 5’ x5’, 5’ x10’, 10’ x20’, or 20’ x20’. The larger the space, the more it will be to rent.
Units can also come equipped with climate control. This allows a customer or rental company the ability to control the temperature along with the humidity of the space. This is extremely helpful if there are items located in the storage unit that can be easily damaged by extreme temperatures or humidity. These spaces are pricier than a typical unit.
A POD, portable on demand, is another storage option. These can be dropped off at the customer’s house and then the items can be loaded. The POD can stay on the premises or can be securely stored at a local facility.
Besides the typical monthly cost of the storage unit, other costs that may come up include purchase of a reliable lock. Some companies may choose to charge customers for late payments, and may increase the monthly rent if late payments are constantly being received. Also, certain companies require a down payment before a unit is dispensed to cover the costs of any damages that may occur throughout the renting period.
