How to Create a More Eco-friendly Home in 2014

Our home is our haven, an intimate space where we can relax after a long day at work and connect with our family, and the place where we entertain our friends and neighbors. We spend a large chunk of our lives within this space. However, homes can be the opposite of relaxing and beneficial to the environment. In fact, residential homes account for about 53.7 percent of that total energy use in the US, 20.8 percent of the nation’s total carbon emissions and 74.4 percentage of total water usage.

The “green” revolution is nothing new, but it is only growing in importance. A few simple changes and additions to your home can have a huge impact on the earth, remove a part of your carbon footprint, and even save you money. While we may try to reduce our waste, there are steps we can take in 2014 to make our home have less of an environmental impact.  Full article
